We know that getting seen on the algorithm might feel like fighting a losing battle these days. But if you’re looking to ramp up engagement on your Facebook page, Facebook has actually introduced a few new tricks! Facebook now offers some handy tagging features that can help you reach the right audience at the right time. By using tags like @followers, @commenters, and @topfans, you can create more personalized interactions and keep your community connected and engaged.

Please note that Facebook does not guarantee this will get you more reach or engagement. It’s just simply one extra option!

Tag Your @followers

When you tag @followers, some of your page’s followers will receive notifications about your post or comment. (Note that not all of your followers will receive this notification. There is currently no way to tag “Everyone” or all of your followers at once.) This is a great way to draw attention to important updates, promotions, or content that you want to highlight. Think of it as giving your followers a friendly nudge, ensuring they don’t miss out on something they might find valuable or interesting. It will show up in some of your followers’ notifications like this:

Reconnect with @commenters

If you’ve got a post that’s already sparking conversation, using the @commenters tag is a smart move. This feature notifies some of the people who have already commented on your post, helping you continue the dialogue and keep the momentum going. Whether you’re answering questions, sharing updates, or just thanking them for their input, this tag helps you maintain a lively and engaged community.

Celebrate Your @topfans

Your Top Fans are the people who interact with your content the most, and Facebook makes it easy to show them some love. By tagging @topfans, you can give a special shoutout to these loyal followers. You can mention all your Top Fans once a day, making it a great way to acknowledge their support and encourage continued engagement. After all, who doesn’t love a little recognition?

By strategically using these tags, you may be able to foster a more active, engaged, and connected community on Facebook. So next time you post, consider who you want to reach, and try using these tags! And please remember that these tags are not private actions – they are public comments. We do not recommend using these tags on every post – your visitors seeing you tag “@followers” in every single thing you post will look like you are desperately trying to bait for engagement. And even if you are feeling a bit desperate – it’s not a good look for the public! Plus, you can’t know for sure if Facebook is notifying the same followers over and over again. So we recommend using these features on posts that really matter! Maybe a post you spent extra time on so you’d like it to get some extra love, or a post with a really good deal, or a great update you want as many people as possible to know about right away!
